Russian marketplace removes ‘special military operation’ tag from site amid Ukrainian attacks on warehouses

Wildberries, the Russian e-commerce giant whose warehouses have become the latest target of Ukrainian drone strikes, has deleted the search tag “Everything for the SVO”, which refers to the “special military operation”, the Kremlin's term for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The change was identified by multiple Telegram channels on Sunday.

The category previously held more than 200,000 listings. Now it’s unavailable.

However, the items it applied to are still for sale. Body armour and helmets now appear under the ”Sports” category, while FPV drones and their components are listed under “TV, Audio, Photo and Video Equipment”.

Over the past ten days, Ukrainian drones have hit seven Wildberries distribution centres inside Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said the facilities help supply components for drone production and navigation equipment.

The online retail industry’s share of the Russian economy has tripled since the coronavirus pandemic, going from 1.9% in 2019 to 5–6% today.
